Slowly adjusting to the new surroundings (and the altitude)

I’ve got in a couple of runs in Chur already. Honest, it took me a while to adjust to the new surroundings (like running on asphalt), the many hills and of course to the altitude. The first few runs were not too much fun, but once I had got those in I could enjoy my workouts again and continue my running efforts with a smile on my face :)
I will spare you details of my first runs, but the distance I covered first was between 3k and 4k only. Especially the asphalt gave me a hard time, but I think I got this under control now. Now, it’s the hills that do their best to improve my shape and get me to quit early. The latter is certainly not going to happen. Never!

Above, you see the chart of my last run. It was the workout that I enjoyed from the start until the end. You should know that I always start my run in the old part of the town and head towards the hospitals (from .5k to 2.5k marker all uphill). I certainly don’t need to get in additional hill workouts anymore :)
Depending on how I feel I continue my run towards the cemetery (further uphill) or outbound town (mostly flat). Before it gets too dark I turn around and head back home again. Pretty soon, I will go running in the morning, before going to work. Maybe then, I can extend the workouts to a 10k or 60 minute run. So far, it was just not possible to do that after a 11-13 hour working day.

I can now say that running is fun, no matter where you are. I liked running in Sweden, loved it back home in Schweinfurt and with every run in Chur it’s getting more and more fun, too.

On 2 November I’ll start at a charity race in Zurich :-) For every 800m lap that I finish my employer donates 20 Swiss Francs to a children’s hospital in Zürich. When I was asked if I wanted to start I instantly answered YES!. I’ll do my best that my employer has to pay a whole lot :-) I don’t mind that the run is on a Sunday and I need to get up very early and take the train to Zurich. It’s for a good cause and I’m sure it’s gonna be fun running with colleagues and meeting new people who share the very same affection with me! I’ll keep you posted!
