Running is starting to feel great again

Finally, I’m starting to enjoy my running workouts again :) Don’t get me wrong, I like exercising a lot and wouldn’t want to quit for any reason, but during today’s run I was having a really good time. Actually, it was pretty much effortless running (except for the final 500m), almost similar to the days when I was in good shape.

As you can see in the figure I’m making progress with keeping my base pace throughout my runs. Unfortunately, I had to dodge several walkers and fellow runners between kilometer 3 and 4 which slowed me down quite a bit ‘cos I had to take a couple of additional turns, decelerate and accelerate again. All this resulted in my losing my (running) rhythm, my HR even shortly dropped below 110 bpm.

As mentioned earlier, I’m satisfied with my run. I could have run 2 long loops but chose not to do so to avoid overtraining and a too fast increase of my weekly mileage.
Instead, I decided to increase intensity on the final semi-k to check if the 20 minute workouts have done any good so far. Apparently, they have :)
Seems, like there’s light at the end of the tunnel and I’m making progress. If I can keep this up [3 running workouts per week] I guess I can look forward to finish a 10k run in under 53 minutes sometime in November.

My next workout is scheduled for Tuesday. It’s gonna be a 20 minute “10k Quick Training Run”.
