1000 hard-run kilometers

Who doesn’t appreciate receiving an award for having reached a milestone or having successfully completed an important task? We all do.
Today, I joined the group of fellow runners who have covered more than 1000k (click the image above to also see the encouraging words from the Nike+ guys).

When I started running with the Nike+ Kit I couldn’t imagine, that, after 18 months, I would still enjoy running as much as I did the first day. Hitting the trails still is a great experience, most likely because every run is different. I’m tempted to say that I even love to run more than ever. Here’s how I performed in today’s 20 minute quick training run coached by Jay Blahnik.

Where are the peaks? The recovery intervals?

This is exactly what I was wondering after having synced today’s run and browsing to the Nike+ website.

I expected a couple of ups and downs due to the speed variations that Jay randomly throws in during the 20 minute quick training run. Apparently, the recovery intervals offset the speed intervals which is why the run looks more like a horizontal line than an actual graph.

Even though my goal is to run 4k during the coached workout, I’m pretty happy about my performance today. In fact, it might even be good not to have accomplished my goal this early. This way I’m not required to re-phrase my goal :)
For the next workout I should try to run a better/faster second kilometer ‘cos I think that’s where I slacked a bit today. I didn’t feel too strong during the last two minutes either.

Anyway, it’s been fun again and I’m looking forward to my next run. Unfortunately, this is probably not going to happen on Thursday ‘cos I’ll be on the road again. But Friday is a good day for a 5k run, too :)
