How it began - Part 2

In June 2007, when the hard drive of my iPod Mini broke, I bought a new iPod Nano and bundled the purchase with a Nike+ sport kit. This was the time when something deep inside of me started growing, but I couldn’t figure out what exactly it was. In winter 2007 I finally realized what is was, what was driving me - the desire to take start at a race.

Surprisingly, I didn’t sign up for a plain road race, but for a sprint triathlon. Triathlon has always amazed me. Swimming, cycling and running are one by one great disciplines, but altogether they are what one looks for when pursuing an extra-ordinary challenge. And I’ve always loved to be challenged, in every single respect of my life.

So, here I am, training for the sprint triathlon in June 2008 and publishing the progress I make in my workouts. Not that these stats are so outstanding that the whole world should know about, but mainly to motivate myself to keep on working out, not to quit, and hopefully also to reach some people who like to see how a recreational athlete trains and works hard to reach his goal of finishing a triathlon.

Thanks for visiting. Come back soon,

Tom Taper
